However if there was one thing that they could count on was use of BlackBerry smartphones in government agencies, but even that seems to be going away. In fact recently according to reports, it has been suggested that the White House is trialing phones from Samsung and LG as a way to wean themselves and possibly the President off BlackBerry devices.
Unfortunately there was no confirmation of which devices from Samsung or LG were being tested, but according to the Department of Defense, a representative has confirmed that they are currently testing a variety of devices. “We can confirm that the White House Communications Agency, consistent with the rest of the Department of Defense, is piloting and using a variety of mobile devices.”
Samsung themselves have also confirmed this by claiming that the company is currently working with government agencies to start some kind of pilot program up in Washington D.C., although as far as LG has stands, the company states that they have not heard of any such testing taking place, so perhaps the report was half correct then.
This is actually not the first time we’ve heard about governments looking to replace their BlackBerry devices with something else, although at the same time there have also been reports that governments have been more than willing to throw in their lot with the Canadian company.
