Volvo Demonstrates Apple’s CarPlay Features In Video

Just yesterday Apple announced CarPlay which is basically Apple’s way of integrating iOS into vehicles in a bigger way. It would basically provide vehicles with an interface that they can use to navigate the different features, as well as interact with their phones via Siri by pressing a button on their steering wheel.

The goal is to make driving safe as our smartphones these days do a lot more than just answer calls. Along with the announcement of CarPlay, Apple also announced some of their partners who would be integrating the feature into their vehicles later this year, and one of those partners is Volvo who has since uploaded a video online showing off some of the CarPlay features.

The video is not extensive by any means and it can hardly be called a walk-through, but for those who are still wondering how the feature might play out in real life, this video should give you a clue as to what you might be able to expect.

The video also shows off several apps, such as Phone, Music, Maps, Messages, Now Playing, Podcasts, and Spotify, which is one of the third-party apps that CarPlay will support at launch. Volvo also notes that CarPlay integration will be applicable to vehicles that supports its new Scalable Product Architecture, beginning with the XC90 SUV.

So if you’re in the market for a new car and you wouldn’t mind having some iOS integration in it, perhaps the XC90 SUV could be worth your consideration. In the meantime you can check out the video above to see CarPlay being demonstrated.
