We guess this is not surprising given that other social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram have been found to play host to such material as well. However it looks like Vine has had enough and have announced an update to their Rules and Terms of Service with regards to sexually explicit material.
According to Vine, they don’t seem very apologetic about banning such content. According to their blog post, they state that for the most part, the majority of their users will not be affected by this. “For more than 99 percent of our users, this doesn’t really change anything.”
However they also add, “For the rest: we don’t have a problem with explicit sexual content on the Internet –– we just prefer not to be the source of it.” So there you have it. While we doubt this will get rid of illicit material completely, we guess Vine will now remove it as soon as it is reported.
Considering that Twitter owns Vine, we have to wonder if Twitter will be next in updating their Rules and Terms of Service with regards to adult material as well. What do you guys think? Will Twitter follow in Vine’s footsteps?
