Thankfully T-Mobile had a change of heart and launched a new promotion that would basically allow customers to trade-in their older BlackBerry handsets for something newer by giving them credit as much as $200. However if that customer were to get a BlackBerry, they’d be given an extra $50 in credit. It turns out that the promotion was a success, according to a recent tweet by T-Mobile’s CMO, Mike Sievert.
According to Sievert, it seems that the promotion managed to draw BlackBerry users out from the woodwork where the carrier experienced 15 times the normal amount of trade-ins in the last two weeks.
We’re not sure if this is a good or bad sign for BlackBerry since Sievert did not mention if those trade-ins were to buy a phone of a different platform, or if they were used to buy a newer BlackBerry handset, like the BlackBerry Z10 or the BlackBerry Q10.
In any case as highlighted by Sievert’s tweet, the deal will be coming to an end this Wednesday, so for those of you who still have old BlackBerry handsets and would like to trade them in for a newer model or a phone of a different platform, you best hurry before it’s too late!
