The wait is finally over for LG G2 owners who subscribe to Sprint. Today the carrier has finally rolled out the much awaited KitKat update for the smartphone. The Sprint LG G2 Android 4.4.2 update has started rolling out, Sprint has already posted the details about the upcoming update on its website. Version ZVB brings Android 4.4.2 KitKat as well as a few bug fixes.
Included with the update are all the improvements that we’ve come to expect from Android 4.4 KitKat. Visual improvements, a couple of new features and performance improvements can all be found onboard. Sprint has also bundled a fix for an audio issue in the pre-installed NextRadio app as well in this update.
Sprint will be rolling out Android 4.4.2 for its G2 in stages, which means that the update won’t go live for everyone at the same time. It may take a while for the update to go live across all regions, when it does, a notification will automatically pop up on the device itself. Alternatively users can also try manually searching for the update through the settings application.
On a side note, LG has also released the open source kernel code for G2 LGLS980. While this is of no use to the novice user, developers can use the code to load their custom ROMs on Android 4.4.2. This means that they’ll be able to speed up development of their custom KitKat ROMs for the G2.
