It seems that the report had gone out a little earlier than expected, suggesting that perhaps the folks at Forbes were given an exclusive and were under an NDA, but we guess someone had hit the publish button ahead of time.
The report, which has since been taken down, claims that Sony’s president, Shuhei Yoshida, will be taking the stage at GDC where they will unveil their plans for a virtual reality headset. Unfortunately apart from “confirming” Sony’s plans, the report did not dive into any details surrounding the headset itself, which at the moment still remains a mystery.
The headset is also expected to kick off on the 18th of March at 5:45PM Pacific Time during Sony’s “Driving the Future of Innovation at Sony Computer Entertainment” presentation, so do check back with us later to see if there are any additional details to be had.
According to CVG, they claim that the headset was originally planned for launch at Gamescom 2013 before it was delayed to the Tokyo Games Show in September, before it was delayed to GDC 2014, which we guess is where it will be taking place.
