Sony decided to use Twitter to clarify Nookala’s statement, touting that “the door is definitely not closed to Android Wear” after taking into consideration that right now, Android Wear is an extremely young platform, so Sony intends to use what they have at the moment by concentrating on their SmartWatch 2 timepiece and SmartBand. I guess it makes much sense, considering Sony’s close partnership with Google for their range of Android-powered smartphones.
I guess this means that it will still be some time before we see a Sony smartwatch being released from their production lines that will offer support for Android Wear. Ah well, only time will tell as to whether Google’s gambit would pay off or not.
