According to an earlier rumor, it was suggested that Sony might be looking to replace the Sony A77 with a newer camera called the A77II. No word on when the camera would be launched, but it was suggested that the announcement could take place in May.
Now if you were still a little unconvinced, you might be interested to learn that the Sony A77 has since been listed as Sold Out in various Sony stores around the world, thus fueling speculation that a successor is definitely in the works.
Unfortunately not much is known about the Sony A77II at the moment except that in terms of auto-focusing speed, the A77II is apparently just as fast, if not faster, than the Sony A6000, a camera which Sony is boasting to have incredibly fast auto-focusing speed. Based on reviews, it certainly seems to be the case so we have to wonder how well the A77II will hold up.
The event that Sony will allegedly announce the camera at is the World Photography Awards Exhibition which will take place from the 1st of May until the 18th of May. Sony has yet to confirm anything but do check back with us then for the details.
