For starters it seems that the Sony A77’s successor will officially be known as the Sony A77II, which sounds a little weird but perhaps Sony has their reasons for naming it such. Also their trusted sources have also informed them that the camera will be announced late Spring and will be released in stores in Summer.
The summer release kind of corroborates an earlier rumor which suggested that the camera would be released in June, so we guess it’s good to know that the rumors are at the very least consistent. The report also suggests that the A77II will focus mainly on speed and will supposedly pack an AF system that will beat out Sony’s own A6000 which apparently is the “world’s fastest” at the moment.
Unfortunately apart from that, not much else is known. Assuming the reports from earlier hold up, chances are we will be looking at quite an overhaul as opposed to being a mere upgrade. This is apparently in line with Sony’s new president who wanted to release products that were game changers rather than just incremental upgrades.
Take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more info. In the meantime who else is looking forward to the new camera?
