I guess the global launch of the upcoming flagship device has been upstaged and hijacked by South Korean mobile network companies, where SK Telecom took the lead by selling the Galaxy S5 a couple of weeks before the scheduled sales launch on April 11.
In the midst of all the confusion that is going on, Samsung is working out how they are going to respond to the situation. We do know that the schedule for the Galaxy S5’s launches overseas will remain the same. SK Telecom is not the only one to “breach” this particular instruction, as the likes of KT Corp. and LG Uplus Corp., too, have released the smartphone earlier than expected, ahead of the 45 day suspension ruling that prevents them from accepting new customers because they offered illegal phone subsidies in the past.
It would be interesting to see how this entire saga is going to play out, and what kind of recriminations will the mobile carriers in South Korea face down the road?
