Since last year we have been hearing rumors that Samsung is going to make AMOLED tablets once again. There have been many rumors recently about a new AMOLED tablet that has a display under 10-inches, but its possible that Samsung have one with a display that’s over 10-inches as well. A tablet carrying model number SM-T805 has shown up on GFXbench, giving us a glimpse of its specifications.
It is believed that the Samsung SM-T805 is the LTE variant of this tablet, and that SM-T800 will presumably be the Wi-Fi only variant. As per benchmark results, this tablet is touting a 2,560×1,600 pixel resolution 10.5-inch display, possibly AMOLED, with a Samsung Exynos 5 Octacore processor and 3GB of RAM.
It certainly won’t be short on power, but its intriguing to see an LTE variant with Samsung’s own processor. Existing high-end Samsung tablets all use Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processors in their LTE variants. Other specifications include 16GB of onboard storage, an 8 megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front camera, GPS, Bluetooth, light sensor, gyroscope and a compass. No word on battery capacity. Believed to be powering this tablet is Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
Despite launching new tablets at the Consumer Electronics Show back in January, Samsung is still mum about its AMOLED tablet plans. The company hasn’t officially confirmed if its back to making AMOLED tablets, or if it has any plans of doing so in the future.
