4K is all the rage these days. The market waits for smartphones to offer 4K recording capability, its gobbling up the plethora of 4K TVs and displays that have recently been announced, and its also looking forward to affordable 4K video recording solutions. The need is gradually being met. Panasonic has a new 4K camera up its sleeve, through which it aims to get a piece of this pie. The Panasonic HX-A500 4K wearable camera is capable of recording 4K video at 25 frames per second.
Now its certainly not the world’s first wearable camera to offer 4K shooting, though the result is going to be better than GoPro’s 4K wearable camera, which can only shoot video at 15 frames per second. The HX-A500’s 4K recording at 25FPS would result in a much smoother image.
Though the GoPro happens to be much more compact. Its an entirely different case with the Panasonic HX-A500, which has a separate camera body and camera, both are connected by a cable. The former houses the camera controls as well as a 1.5-inch display for video playback. Users have the option to stream video from the HX-A500 to an iOS or Android device through the Panasonic Image App. The app also lets users edit and broadcast the video live to UStream.
According to Panasonic, this camera is more than capable of battling the elements. It is dust and waterproof, making it usable under up to 10 feet of water for 30 minute stints. The company is yet to provide a specific release date, but it has said that the HX-A500 will sell for £379.99.
