I am quite sure that many of us out there have heard of OUYA before, where the startup company has mentioned that they intend to extend their software (some call it platform) to other devices, and these devices would include the likes of set-top boxes as well as smart TVs. OUYA has done a pretty good job at keeping things under wraps so far, especially concerning the “Everywhere” initiative, but it does seem as though the company is en route to making an announcement of their first deal with a hardware manufacturer within the coming fortnight.
This particular development does not signal the end of the hardware business for OUYA, so let us not speculate or dwell on that particular point. OUYA does seem as though they are dedicated to stick to an annual refresh cycle as was promised, although there was no sharing as to what the future reference design would be like. One thing that is not likely to happen anytime soon would be a mobile release, though, as the Everywhere project has nothing to do with mobile whatsoever. How has your OUYA experience been so far? Were you one of the early adopters who had plenty of faith in one of Kickstarter’s more successful projects to date?
