Another week, another bit of information about OnePlus One. Its the first smartphone being developed by OnePlus, a company started by ex-Oppo executives. So far they haven’t really given us a glimpse of the device, though every other week the team offers some information about the OnePlus One. This week its about the processor. The company has confirmed that the OnePlus One is going to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 processor.
Though if you recall, initially this smartphone was supposed to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip. Today the folks at OnePlus updated the specs sheet and caught everyone by surprise as they sneaked the Snapdragon 801 in there. The new chip supports faster clock speeds and memory, so it should offer a slight bump in performance.
Other specifications already confirmed by the company include a 3,100mAh battery, a 5.5 inch full HD display, StyleSwap back covers and a 13 megapixel f/2.0 rear camera. The company has repeatedly said that it will beat out its rivals on price, and according to its CEO, the smartphone will be sold for less than $399.
OnePlus One will be offered in 16GB and 64GB flavors. Its also going to feature always-on voice commands, similar to what Motorola introduced with the Moto X. The smartphone is expected to be released in the second quarter of this year.
