Given that we were treated to Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag in 2013, this means that in 2014 we can look forward to at least one new Assassin’s Creed title, right? Well thanks to the folks at Kotaku, they have managed to get their hands on an alleged leaked screenshot belonging to one of the two Assassin’s Creed titles pegged for a release later this year.
According to the report, the name of one of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed games is called “Unity”. We’re not sure if this is the codename or the actual name for the game itself, but either way it’s something worth taking note of for future reference.
So where is the new Assassin’s Creed game taking place in? Well according to the screenshots, it looks like it could be taking place in Paris, since the screenshots reveal iconic locations like the Seine river and Notre Dame, amongst other more familiar landmarks. It is unclear if the entire game will be set in Paris or if Paris is just a part of it, but for now the former seems most likely.
Assassin’s Creed “Unity” will also be designed for current-gen consoles like the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, while the other title which has been codenamed “Comet” will be released for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. No word on whether there will be PC or Wii U releases for now.
Now if you’re wondering why the game looks a little, “dull”, well it’s because the screenshots are allegedly showing off the game in its development stages, meaning that what you are seeing is not the final product. The textures are expected to be improved upon and that the city plazas, which appear quite empty at the moment, will be populated once the game has been completed.
What do you guys think so far? Are you liking the idea of a Parisian Assassin’s Creed?
