Yesterday Motorola showed off one of the most beautiful smartwatches we have seen. Its nothing like other smartwatches, at least in terms of design. Motorola didn’t actually talk much about it yesterday, in a sense that it didn’t reveal anything in detail about its specifications and features. Today the company hosted a Hangout to answer some questions, and while it didn’t exactly give straightforward answers to all questions, it did confirm one burning question that must be on everybody’s mind.
The concern most people would have had after looking at the Moto 360 would understandably be about compatibility. Is the Moto 360 only compatible with mobile devices manufactured by Motorola? The company has confirmed today that Moto 360 is going to be compatible with all Android devices, provided that they are capable of supporting Android 4.3 or higher. That would mean most recent devices, regardless of whoever manufactures them.
Motorola was also asked if the smartwatch is going to be waterproof? The company didn’t admit to that outright, but did say that its going to be “splash-proof.” It appears that its holding off on a quantified measurement until it gets things sorted. Rumor has it that Motorola is facing production issues primarily due to the unorthodox design of its smartwatch. This could lead to a launch with very limited supply. Moto 360 is expected to go on sale this Summer.
