When playing games online, you tend to meet people with all sorts of personalities and quirks. Sometimes you get lucky and meet a really great gamer who you really enjoying gaming with, and in some cases, these gamers even get married in real life! Of course there are times when you meet players with bad attitudes who end up causing you a lot of rage and frustration during the gaming process.
Well if you know someone like that or if you think you’re that gamer, you might want to rethink your stance and attitude because Microsoft has revealed to the folks at Polygon that they are planning to reward gamers who exhibits good social behavior.
This was confirmed during a talk at GDC 2014 where Microsoft’s Frank Savage stated that instead of just punishing players with bad attitudes or for unsportsmanlike behavior, they have decided to reward players with good behavior instead.
At this point in time it is unclear how Microsoft plans on determining who is a good player, but apparently the Xbox Live reputation will have the ability of recognizing gamers who are apparently so amazing that everyone just wants to play with them. The rewards haven’t exactly been figured out yet either and according to Savage, it’s currently in its brainstorming stages.
Will this result in gamers that are more helpful and cooperative rather than the trolls that we typically encounter during online play? It’s hard to say because some players just don’t care that much about rewards or having a good reputation, but we guess we’ll just have to wait and see for this system to kick into effect. What do you guys think?
