Many gamers are probably looking forward to playing Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U or the 3DS and the game has been pegged for a release on the 30th of May, meaning that we have a little over two months to go before we are able to play the game. However according to Amazon’s website, they have listed the game as shipping in 2-4 weeks which would definitely see the game released earlier than expected.
One forum user on NeoGAF decided to confirm with Amazon to see if it was true, and through an online chat with an Amazon rep, Amazon apparently confirmed that the game would indeed ship in 2-4 weeks. Now before you get too excited, Nintendo has since refuted those claims and stated that the game will not be shipping early.
In a statement released to IGN, a Nintendo representative was quoted as saying that the launch date of Mario Kart 8 has not changed. What this means is that the game is still on track for a 30th of May release, so if you got a little excited at Amazon’s estimated release, you should probably calm yourselves down.
We’re not sure why Amazon would list the game’s release for 2-4 weeks, or why the Amazon rep would confirm it. Perhaps internally someone had gotten the dates wrong and the rep was basing this on the dates that they had with them, but either way for gamers looking forward to Mario Kart 8, the 30th of May is a date you’ll want to mark on your calendars, and not anytime before.
