Much has already been said and written about the new NVIDIA Tegra K1. People now want to see which product becomes the first to be powered by this impressive chip. If there’s any weight to these claims, the first consumer product to be powered by the NVIDIA Tegra K1 might not be a smartphone or a tablet. Instead, it might be Lenovo’s upcoming 50-inch 4K smart tv.
Apparently a Lenovo Vice President revealed several details about the new smart TV through his Weibo account, the equivalent of Twitter in China. According to the VP, Lenovo’s new 50-inch 4K TV comes with the “world’s fastest 200 core chip,” a phrase that is commonly associated with the Tegra K1. There’s no other chip out there right now owning up to the 200 cores media blitz, so it would be a safe presumption to think that the VP was indeed talking about the Tegra K1, even though it wasn’t mentioned by name.
It is also said that the launch of Lenovo’s new smart TV is “just around the corner.” If this is really true, then it could very well mean that this TV would be the first device to come with NVIDIA Tegra K1, even before it finds its way into conventional mobile devices. No word as yet if this TV will make it to the U.S.
