Kickstarter Project Adds Stretch Goal Of Buying Oculus VR From Facebook

A few days ago, Facebook announced that they would be acquiring Oculus VR. This is actually pretty big news as it would no doubt help to advance virtual reality technology, not to mention give Oculus VR the resources to compete against the likes of Sony who have recently announced their own VR plans.

However not everyone was too thrilled about Facebook’s acquisition, such as Minecraft’s creator, Markus “Notch” Persson, who publicly announced the cancellation of the game for the Oculus Rift. Notch is not alone in his pleasure and developers Twinbeard has also expressed their disapproval of the acquisition.

In fact in their upcoming educational game, Frog Fractions 2, they had added a new stretch to their Kickstarter goal in which the company has announced that if they manage to hit the $2 billion mark (which is how much Facebook paid for Oculus VR), they will buy Oculus VR from Facebook.

It seems like a long stretch especially since Frog Fractions 2 has only managed to raise a little over $45,000 of its $65,000 goal and with 12 days to go, they’d have to raise $160 million a day in the course of the next 12 days to hit that goal. Of course we expect that Twinbeard probably knows that, so we guess the point they’re trying to make is that they don’t believe Facebook should be buying Oculus VR.
