Now we’ve seen plenty of leaks in the past but unfortunately in the case of this particular leaker, he did not exactly do a good job of hiding his identity, which revealed his name to be Roshan Jamkatel. This also led to HTC’s Senior Global Online Communications Manager, Jeff Gordon, who tracked him down on Twitter.
According to Gordon’s post on Twitter, he did not seem all too happy that Jamkatel leaked the All New HTC One in such extensive detail on YouTube. His message also suggested that there could be legal consequences to his actions, reading, “It’s not going to be a good week for you, my friend.”
Jamkatel attempted to throw Gordon off by claiming the phone in the video was a fake, but according to Gordon’s reply, he did not believe one word of it. “We have the IMEI and all other info. We’ll be in touch.”
From what we have learnt when Gizmodo managed to get their hands on a lost iPhone 4 prototype back in the day, companies don’t take too well when their unannounced products are leaked ahead of schedule for a variety of reasons.
It could be that they don’t want the competition learning what they have done, and also because the product might not necessarily be the real deal, which could lead to customers gaining a false image even before the product has been made available. We’re not sure what will be the result of this, but with the All New HTC One being HTC’s flagship phone for 2014, we doubt Jamkatel will be getting away with just a slap on the wrist.
