HTC is moving on with its pledge of updating all supported devices to Android 4.4 KitKat. Roughly two months back, the last major update was released for the Butterfly S, it was Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Android 4.4 has been around for a bit longer and has slowly been making its way to all supported device. Today, the HTC Butterfly S Android 4.4 update release has finally taken place, bringing with it all the bells and whistles we’ve come to expect from this iteration as well as a number of improvements and enhancements.
Android 4.4.2 for the Butterfly S removes support of web browser Flash Player, adds new Bluetooth profiles to support more media interactions as well as the Cloud Print Service. Several security enhancements are on board too. The OS itself brings several new features, and includes slight tweaks for the user interface of the device.
Weighing in at 736MB, the update is being rolled out over-the-air. Users should receive a notification on their device telling them that the update is ready for download. It would be wise to download this big update on Wi-Fi. Just remember that the update doesn’t go live in all regions at the same time so it may take some time for the notification to pop up on your HTC Butterfly S.
