Those of us who grew up in the 1990s either as a small kid or as a teen, you would know that the era of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles also has this gaming craze known as Tamagotchi – which is a virtual pet that you ought to take care of, otherwise it would “die”, so to speak. This craze from Bandai of Japan swept across the world, and 17 years later, the concept of the Tamagotchi has apparently made its way to the Pebble smartwatch in the form of the Hatchi.
Heck, the Pebble’s black-and-white e-paper display does seem to make it the ideal home for your digital pet after all these years. Developer Portable Pixels intends to launch Hatchi on the Pebble appstore sometime later this week, where Hatchi would function pretty much in the same vein as that of the Tamagotchi, where you will spend real world time taking care of a virtual pet. I guess you aren’t going to let the Hatchi fetch you your morning paper, and neither can it jump with you into a lake, or to play fetch with you in the real world. Ah well, it looks like you have to give some and take some – at least there is no poop for you to clean up after which could run the risk of stinking up the whole place with the Hatchi.
