However with the acquisition, it seems that Google has also removed the companion app from the Google Play Store, much to the surprise and anger of it users who are now left without Green Throttle Games’ services and app.
There is some good news, thanks to a rumor, which has suggested that the removal of the app is because Google could be looking to integrate Green Throttle Games’ services into the company’s rumored set top box, the Nexus TV. The founders of the company will be joining the Google team once the acquisition goes through.
Unfortunately at this point in time, not much is known about the rumored Nexus TV, apart from speculation that it will probably be a refresh of the Google TV and that it might be unveiled at Google I/O which will be taking place in the middle of the year.
We’re not sure what Google plans to do with Green Throttle Games, but given the company’s history, it seems that we might be able to look forward to an even more integrated gaming experience with the Nexus TV, and possibly even a controller as well (will it be bundled? That remains to be seen).
