Galaxy S5 Production Will Not Be Hugely Affected By Recent Factory Fire

It hasn’t been too long since Samsung announced the Galaxy S5. In fact if the handset was what you were after, you wouldn’t have to wait too long to get it either as the handset has been pegged for a release sometime in April. Or at least that’s what the initial plan was until a recent fire broke out at one of Samsung’s partner factories.

According to reports out of the Asia News Agency, a fire broke out at one of Samsung’s manufacturing partners that was responsible for building the PCBs for the Galaxy S5. The report claims that over $1 billion in equipment and components have been destroyed in the fire, a fire which took a total of 287 firefighters, 80 vehicles, and over 6 hours to put out.

While the report did not state as to whether there were any injuries or casualties sustained during the fire and during the process of putting out the fire, Samsung did release a statement claiming that the factory was one of several that would be helping to manufacture the PCBs used for the Galaxy S5.

In fact Samsung claims that it will not affect the handset’s 11th of April date and that the fire won’t be setting back the production of the handset by a huge margin. Based on this, we can only infer that any delays will be minimal, although exactly to what extent remains unknown for now.

At the very least we guess availability might be a little tight in the first couple of weeks, but hopefully it will even out later on. At the same time we can only hope that no one was injured or has died as a result of the fire.
