Now that the Samsung Galaxy S5 has been officially announced, we must turn towards the possibility of multiple variants of this flagship being launched. It certainly won’t be a new thing, just last year Samsung released a few variants of the Galaxy S4. One of the first variants that we normally see after a flagship comes out is its “mini” version, essentially a watered down variant that offers mid-range specifications at a relatively low price. An import tracking website has ousted an unknown Samsung phone carrying model number SM-G870a, it is believed that this might be the Galaxy S5 mini.

The import tracking listing doesn’t reveal anything about this Samsung phone, but as per the folks at GalaxyClub.nl, it may be the Galaxy S5 mini because the ratio of its price compared to Galaxy S5 is actually quite similar to the ratio that existed between Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 mini. Its expected that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S5 mini in June.

Obviously a mere listing can’t confirm the existence of this Galaxy S5 variant, but its not like we haven’t heard about the possibility of a Galaxy S5 mini before. Rumor has it that the phone will be powered by Android 4.4 KitKat and that it is going to have a Super AMOLED display. No further details about expected specifications are available as yet, so we’ll have to keep an eye on this SM-G870 model number and see if it rings any bells down the line.
