Yup, you read that right, Samsung is looking to release a handset variant based on the Galaxy S3 from two years ago, and it seems that this variant is not even as powerful as its original model, which is a little odd given today’s technology, so there is a good chance that this model will target emerging markets who might not have enough money for a higher-end device.
So what kind of specs are we looking at? Well for starters the Galaxy S3 Slim will pack a 4.5-inch 960×540 display. It will be powered by a quad-core chipset clocked at 1.2GHz and will be accompanied by 1GB of RAM. It will also feature a 5MP rear-facing camera, a VGA front-facing camera, and a 2,100mAh battery with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean running the show.
We’re not sure why Samsung couldn’t have used the Galaxy S3’s specs or at least something a little better, especially since we reckon the Galaxy S3’s technology would be a lot cheaper by now, but then again perhaps this is done to further reduce costs.
No release date or pricing was revealed, but this isn’t the first time Samsung is releasing a Galaxy S3 variant because not too long ago, we had caught wind that Samsung would be releasing a Galaxy S3 Mini Value Edition in the Netherlands.
