The phone would be the first phone resulting from BlackBerry and Foxconn’s efforts, and it is admittedly not exactly a phone with the most amazing specs. The device was meant for emerging markets and it is understandable that they chose lower-end specs to make it more affordable.
One of the rumored specs was that the handset would pack a 540×960 display but according to new reports, a 720p HD display might make it onto the phone instead.
This is according to BerryMe.de who found that based on their analysis of a certain BlackBerry 10 app’s data, that a device with the model number STJ100-1 would pack a 1280×720 resolution. For those unfamiliar, STJ100-1 is the model number for the BlackBerry Z3 Jakarta.
While the rest of the BlackBerry Z3’s specs have not been revealed, rumors suggest a 5-inch display, and now coupled with a 720p display, well we guess it does make things slightly better. That and the rumors that claim it will cost under $200 should make the handset a real winner amongst those shopping on a budget.
Could this be the BlackBerry phone that will be able to compete against the likes of the Nokia Lumia 520, another low-end handset with relatively decent specs that is at the moment dominating the low-end market?
