However as the Mac Pro was not designed for the average consumer, but aimed at professionals who might need the power to render graphics, edit movies, and produce songs, there might be times when 64GB of RAM might just not be enough.
Thankfully a company by the name of Transcend Information has recently announced that they have developed RAM modules that would allow Mac Pro users to upgrade their RAM to up to a whopping 128GB! We’re not sure who would ever need that much memory, but at least we know it’s there if you want it.
According to Angus Wu, director of research and development at Transcend, “We have developed and fully tested higher density modules to give users the option of raising their Mac Pro system memory to the advertised 64GB right up to 128GB.”
Of course being able to upgrade to 128GB of RAM does come at a price and for those who think they might need all 128GB of RAM, well you can look forward to forking out $2,480 because that is how much Transcend will be charging users for the 128GB RAM kit. Ouch, as if the Mac Pro itself wasn’t already expensive enough!
