One phone, two displays: That’s probably the simplest definition of the YotaPhone, which hails from Russia. First announced back in 2012, this phone has a 4.3 inch 720×1,280 LCD display up front with a 200 DPI E Ink display of similar size on the back. Powered by a 1.5Ghz Snapdragon S4 dualcore processor with 2GB RAM, this unique smartphone was released in select markets last year. At Mobile World Congress 2014 its successor, the YotaPhone 2, is expected to be launched.

As per rumors, the YotaPhone won’t venture far from its core values. It will still have two displays, a LCD up front and a E Ink on the back, but both have reportedly grown when it comes to size. Apparently the E Ink display also gets touch capabilities. Under the hood a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor coupled with 2GB RAM, up to 64 of onboard storage, 1,800mAh battery as well as a 13 megapixel rear and 1 megapixel front camera are expected. Support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and LTE will also reportedly be onboard apart from Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. No word as yet on pricing and availability, though it is claimed that the previous model sold as many as 12,000 units soon after its launch. YotaPhone 2 is said to be unveiled tomorrow on February 24th, the very first day of MWC 2014.
