Xbox One Call Of Duty: Ghosts Performance Drops After Patch
Most, if not all of the time, patches introduced to software and games are supposed to be a positive thing – you get better performance, bugs are squashed, and everyone is happy. Unfortunately, Murphy’s Law does seem to come into effect from time to time, and this time around, it seems that a patch which has been issued for the Xbox One edition of Call of Duty: Ghosts has caused more problems down the road. What kind of setbacks are we looking at? Apparently, the Onslaught DLC alongside its stability patch have degraded performance of the game in certain spots on the new maps, and any true blue FPS fan will attest this to you – that frame drops are a huge no-no.
Digital Foundry’s David Bierton mentioned, “Kicking off with a look at Stonehaven, it’s immediately obvious that things are not quite right. While the game does indeed hit 60fps in this stage, frame-rates are dramatically impacted when the whole level is in view, with metrics varying between 46-60fps as we run across the landscape. As frame-rates fall below the desired 60fps target, we also see the appearance of some screen-tear, adding some judder, making drops in smoothness more noticeable.”
If you decide to peer down the sniper scope in Stonehaven at that point mentioned, the framerate would drop to nearly 30, which is a far cry from what it was originally prior to the patch. Hopefully this will be fixed, the sooner the better.
