Gamers might be pleased to learn that the Thief reboot will soon be released on multiple platforms on the 25th of February 2014. For those who are wondering if the PC version of Thief will simply be a port of the console version, you can rest assured that it won’t be. Granted this might save the developers time, especially if they’re aiming for a simultaneous release, but ports can be tricky as there might be aspects of the game that might not be optimized for a particular platform. In any case speaking to Gamespot, the game’s producer, Stephane Roy, reassured gamers that the PC version of Thief will not be a port.
According to Roy, “Honestly, if you’re a PC gamer, you’re going to be in love with [this] version.” He later adds, “They are going to have a PC version, not a port, all the PC options you can imagine are there.” So how did they manage to create a PC version and release it at the same time as the version for consoles? Well apparently it is because the PC version of the game’s development was handled by Nixxes Software, who for those unfamiliar is responsible for the PC versions of Hitman Absolution and Deus Ex: Human Revolution, both of which have received some pretty good reviews. As it stands there have been a couple of reviews released for the game and it has been somewhat mixed, but feel free to check it out for yourself if you loved the franchise growing up.
