Satoru Iwata: New Nintendo Consoles Will Be Similar
Nintendo is a company that seems to have lost their mojo recently, as the Nintendo Wii U has not done as well as expected by the company and fans. It would be a sad day indeed should Nintendo actually go the way of Sega and exit the hardware business altogether, considering the amount of good memories that have been ingrained in the minds of at least a couple of generations of readers to date. Since they say that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results, Satoru Iwata of Nintendo has announced that their next generation of consoles will be similar to one another unlike the past. Take the GameCube and the Nintendo DS – those were worlds apart, and the Wii U with the Nintendo 3DS too are different from one another. The future will see a “similar” handheld and console which will be cross compatible.
After all, what better way to learn than from a mistake? Picking up the pieces from where they are at the moment, it seems that Nintendo has been inspired by Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android platforms to move in such a direction. In fact, this could be an indirect confirmation of the Fusion DS and Terminal rumor, where both systems allegedly share a number of striking similarities in the hardware department, with the Fusion Terminal being able to juice up the Fusion DS, too.
