Original Dungeon Keeper Goes Free This Weekend On GOG

If you grew up playing games in the 1990s, you might recall a rather classic title known as Dungeon Keeper which was developed by Peter Molyneux and Bullfrog Productions. If you’re wondering why the title is so familiar, it is because EA has recently decided to breathe new life into the franchise by releasing a remake for mobile device, which unfortunately has not been well-received by gamers namely due to its aggressive free-to-play model which basically keeps reminding or encouraging players to make in-app purchases at almost every turn of the game.

That being said, the good news is that if you wanted to relive the classic and original game minus the annoying reminders to make in-app purchases, you’re in luck because GOG has announced that the original 1997 Dungeon Keeper game will be free for download this weekend. If you’re not a registered GOG member, you should probably go ahead and register yourselves, click on a link on the site’s homepage to redeem your voucher, and you should be good to go. The game will also include the Deeper Dungeons expansion. In a statement released to Polygon, GOG revealed that this free giveaway is thanks to a collaboration between EA and GOG, so perhaps EA is trying to buy some good faith by releasing the classic which we guess we can’t really complain about.
