Nokia Normandy/Nokia X Certified In Thailand

The Nokia Normandy/Nokia X has been rumored for quite a while. The handset is said to be Nokia’s own take on Android and will actually be running a forked version of the operating system, much like how Amazon has their own version of Android running on their Kindle Fire tablets. In any case the general consensus at the moment seems to be that Nokia is prepping to launch the handset in the near future, possibly at MWC 2014, and further cementing that theory is how the Nokia Normandy has recently received certification in Thailand, following certification received in Indonesia and Malaysia earlier.

The certification more or less states that these are the countries that the handset will be allowed to be sold in. Testing of the device is also said to be taking place at the moment in India. For those wondering about the specs, the Nokia Normandy can hardly be called the most powerful Android phone, but given Nokia’s experience in the mobile device business, we can look forward to a solid handset. It has also been rumored to sport a 4-inch 800×480 display, a 1.7GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, dual SIM support, and will most likely run on a forked version of Android 4.4 KitKat. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully more details will be revealed at MWC 2014, so be sure to check back with us then.
