Leaked Tizen Screenshot “Confirms” New TouchWiz UI

So the other day Samsung teased a image on its Twitter account, basically reminding us of its upcoming Unpacked 5 event where supposedly the Galaxy S5 will be announced. What was interesting about the image was Samsung’s use of icons which had many speculating that it could be Samsung teasing us about its new TouchWiz user interface, and now thanks to a leaked Tizen screenshot obtained by the folks at nowhereelse.fr, it has more or less confirmed that the icons used in the teaser image are indeed from Samsung’s upcoming new user interface that we might expect in Tizen devices and the Samsung Galaxy S5.

In the past Samsung has gotten a lot of criticism over its TouchWiz UI, with many complaining about how bloated the software felt. However recent leaks have suggested that Samsung might be trying to do something about it with what appears to be a rather dramatic overhaul in terms of design, offering a more magazine-like feel with tiles, which are also reminiscent of the Windows Phone platform but still a welcome visual refresh nonetheless. In any case we’re not sure if this latest version of Samsung’s Android UI is any better than before, but what we do know is that Google and Samsung have come to an agreement in which Samsung will not overly modify Android which might take away from the Android experience that Google had originally intended.
