The camera will also sport a wider aperture at f/1.8 versus f/2.2 which is the aperture at the moment. A wider aperture will allow for faster image capture as well as brighter images under low-light settings. The report also goes on to claim that Apple will be changing the filter used in the camera and will replace the hybrid IR filter with a resin lens filter manufactured by Japanese company, JSR. These new filters are said to be thinner and lighter and can take clearer images due to its ability to minimize the color shifts of CMOS image sensors. If anything this definitely sounds like a welcome upgrade to the iPhone’s camera but given that it is a rumor, do take it with a grain of salt for now.
