The start of a new year is always exciting for the industry. In January the world’s biggest consumer electronics show is held in Las Vegas and a few weeks after that, Mobile World Congress in Barcelona brings new mobile devices. In the coming weeks quite a lot of manufacturers reach the end of their traditional release cycles, which means that they are bound to unveil successors. Huawei happens to be one such manufacturer as its due to unveil the Ascend P6’s successor, which will presumably be called the Huawei Ascend P7. An alleged render of this unannounced smartphone has been leaked online.
Rumor has it that internally the Huawei Ascend P7 is referred to as the “Sophia.” It is believed to tout a 5 inch 1080p HD display, a Hi-Silicon 1.6GHz quadcore processor with 2GB RAM, 4G LTE compatibility, 13 megapixel rear camera and a 2,460mAh battery. The design seen in the leaked render is similar to that of the Huwaei Ascend P6 which at the time of its launch happened to be the thinnest smartphone on the market at just 6.18mm. Pricing and availability information isn’t public at this point in time, and it remains to be seen if the P7 will make its way to Western markets. Huawei is pretty serious about competing on a global scale, and the CES 2014 launch of Ascend Mate 2 is testament to that. [Image via Inpai]
