The Google Now launcher debuted with Nexus 5, and even though people found a way to extract it from the smartphone and offer it for other devices, a stable build wasn’t released until yesterday. Google Now launcher is now available for download via the Play Store, albeit only for Nexus and Google Play Edition devices. Android users need not worry, there is a method to get this popular launcher up and running on any device, be it a phone or a tablet.
Users will first need to install the latest version of Google Search app on their Android device. Since the launcher’s core feature is based on search, its imperative that the app is updated to the latest version, otherwise this method will not work. Once it has been updated, then its simply a matter of downloading the Google Now launcher APK and sideloading it on any Android device.
The launcher will now work on that device. Users will be able to say “Okay, Google” on any homescreen to invoke search and ask away any queries that they might have. The APK is floating about on file sharing websites, and its not particularly hard to sideload apps on an Android devices. Users with a bit of know how will have no difficulties in getting this to work.
