According to their claims, the upcoming Nikon 1 V3 will sport a completely new camera design. It will be fast at everything (which admittedly sounds very vague). It will also sport an 18MP sensor, an external 2.4MP electronic viewfinder which may or may not be sold separately as an accessory, an eye sensor along with a button that allows photographers to switch between LCD and EVF, a 180-degree swivel LCD display, a new grip, and new Nikkor 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD VR zoom lens.
Oddly enough Nikon did not announce the camera at CP+ which took place earlier this month, which did seem like the perfect opportunity, but apparently the Nikon 1 V3 will be announced in the next 1-2 months if the rumors are to be believed.
According to one of the rumors we heard back in 2013, Nikon was supposedly reconsidering their Nikon 1 lineup due to poor sales. While Nikon might be established as a manufacturer of DSLR cameras, they were rather late to the mirrorless game, allowing companies like Olympus and Sony to gain traction.
Will the Nikon 1 V3 be able to reinvigorate interest in the company’s mirrorless products? We guess we will have to wait and see.
