When it comes to camera accessories for smartphones, most of the time we’re talking about simple lens attachments. However with devices like the Nokia Lumia 1020 and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, smartphone photography has definitely been taken to the next level. Ztylus has announced the ZGS-4 camera kit for the Samsung Galaxy S4 which is basically an elaborate case for the smartphone that will transform it into a more “proper” camera.
While our smartphones have no issues taking photos, sometimes the familiarity and sturdiness of a proper camera design is welcome, and that’s one of the things Ztylus tries to achieve with the ZGS-4. The case will add a grip at the back of the phone to make it easier to hold, which at the same time doubles up as a kick stand for the phone, and also a natural amplifier for the Galaxy S4’s speakers, which we have to say is pretty clever and convenient.
As for the bundled lenses, it is a revolver system that comprises of a circular polarizer lens, a wide-angle lens that doubles as a macro lens which is revealed when the wide-angle lens is unscrewed, and an extreme fish eye lens for those weird and funky angles. The lens mount will be made from aircraft grad aluminum while the lenses will feature precision ground glass optics with multi-layer coating.
