ZTE G601U Joins The Rugged Smartphone Bandwagon

It seems that there is a growing market when it comes to rugged smartphones, or at least smartphones that do not crack at every little knock or drop. Not only that, the modern day design of rugged smartphones have gotten more and more sleek, unlike their early years counterparts. ZTE has decided to jump aboard the rugged smartphone bandwagon as well with the introduction of the ZTE G601U, and I am quite sure that if this particular device does well, the folks over at Sony and Kyocera would most probably look over their shoulders.

The ZTE G601U has already received the approval to go on sale in its home country, and while it lacks the design finesse of Sony’s devices, it will still have some catching up to do with the rest of the competition in terms of its hardware specifications. The ZTE G601U will arrive with a 4” 480×800 touchscreen display that will be accompanied by a 5MP camera at the back with LED flash, a VGA front facing camera, a dual-core 1.3GHz processor, 1GB RAM, a microSD memory card slot, HSPA, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity, GPS support, and a 2,500 mAh battery. Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is the operating system of choice, and it remains to be seen whether it will arrive anywhere else outside of China.
