The ARK is based on the Qi wireless charging standard which means there are a host of smartphones out there that are already compatible with it right out of the box. There are caveats and that is iPhone users will need a special case (which will be shipped with the charger), and Samsung device owners will require a patch attached to their batteries for it to work with the ARK as well, but other than that most devices should play nicely with it. For the most part the ARK sounds like your typical wireless charger but according to its creators, it will be faster. Based on their tests, the ARK is 20% faster than normal wireless chargers and 5% faster than charging cases.
The ARK will also be able to hold up to three full charges and come with USB ports for devices that do not have wireless charging capabilities. As it stands the ARK is a Kickstarter project seeking funding and at this time of writing has managed to raise $27,431 of its $35,000 goal. With 39 days left to go, we expect it should have no problem meeting its target, so if you’d like to learn more, hit up its Kickstarter page for the details.
