Sony made a couple of smartphone related announcements at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this month, but it is yet to unveil its 2014 flagship smartphone. With Mobile World Congress 2014 coming up next month, some believe that the Xperia Z2 might be announced there. The 2014 flagship apparently carries the codename “Sirius,” and while we have yet to see a leaked press render, a few purported pictures have been leaked online.
First posted on the XDA developers forum, the picture shows off a Sony smartphone that looks similar to the Xperia Z1 but has noticeably thinner bezels, which could mean that this smartphone might have a 5.2 inch display as opposed to the 5 inch display found on Xperia Z1. From the looks of things, the power, volume, camera buttons, magnetic pins, headphone jack and even the notification light seem to be in the same position as they are on the Xperia Z1, only the lanyard strap appears to be on a different side.
Its too soon to say for sure right now if this really is the Xperia Z2, though its believe to have a 5.2 inch 2,560×1,440 pixel resolution display. For all we know this could be the rumored Xperia Z1L variant, we will probably have to wait until MWC 2014 to be absolutely sure.
