The deal in question will cover patents related to GSM, UMTS, and LTE and will also put an end to whatever ongoing litigation is taking place at the moment, which also covers complaints made by both companies to the US International Trade Commission and the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. No word on how much royalty Samsung will paying Ericsson as both companies have unsurprisingly decided to remain mum on that particular topic. Ericsson also stated that they believe the royalty payments made by Samsung to them will have an impact on the company’s financials for Q4 2013 and the beginning of 2014. This is the second cross-licensing deal that Samsung has recently signed, with the previous one signed with Google.
We’re not sure if this means that Samsung is in an agreeable mood, but hopefully we will be able to see some kind of settlement between Apple and Samsung where agreement talks are expected to take place next month.
