QuakeCon 2014 Kicks Off This July 17
Ah, Quake. I clearly remember how that game actually introduced me to the entire world of binding keys to various weapons from the drop down console itself. It has opened up my eyes to the effectiveness of a rocket jump, not to mention making me a math monkey as I had to make the armor runs between the red and the green in DM6 – The Dark Zone so that the opponent would not be able to stand much of a chance. My other favorite map was The Bad Place (DM4), and I loathed the slow weapon change speed in Quake 2 and Quake 3, relatively speaking, of course. Then there was QuakeCon as well, which has certainly evolved over the years. In this day and age, QuakeCon happens to be Bethesda and id Software’s public event which has been dated – where it will happen at the end of July, from Thursday, July 17 all the way to Sunday, July 20.
Just in case you are still wondering what the heck QuakeCon is all about, as though you were a deer staring into the headlights of an oncoming car, QuakeCon happens to be the largest Bring-Your-Own-Computer LAN party in North America. It is also completely open to the public without requiring you to fork out a single dime, courtesy of id and Bethesda, where they are propped by volunteer staff, sponsors and exhibitors who make sure that the show must go on, no matter what. In fact, the Hilton Anatole Hotel will offer a special room rate of $159/night should you reference QuakeCon 2014 when you make your booking!
