Google has expanded its lineup of devices that offer the “Nexus” experience with the Moto G Google Play Edition. Announced today, the Moto G GPE brings unadulterated Android OS at an affordable price. The smartphone is available for purchase now through the Play Store. Motorola, a Google owned company, launched the Moto G last year. It has been well received, primarily due to the fact that it offers mid-range specifications at a very attractive price. This smartphone is already being sold by retailers, a number of mobile carriers and even Motorola itself.
The reason why Google Play Edition devices are increasingly becoming popular is because they’re first in line after Nexus devices to receive a new major Android update. Moreover, they give tinkerers more freedom and come pre-installed with stock Android, with no carrier or OEM optimizations to the user interface. This means a much more smoother user experience. With a 4.5 inch HD display and quadcore processor, the Google Play Edition Moto G costs $179 and $199 for 8GB and 16GB flavors, unlocked and compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile. Moto G GPE also features interchangeable backs, allowing users to choose from a variety of colors and types to add a splash of color whenever they want. Best of all, Moto G Google Play Edition comes with Android 4.4 KitKat pre-installed.
