At the same time, Judge Lucy Koh also invalidated one of Samsung’s patents-in-suit, bringing Samsung’s complaint of patent infringements down to four. The patent in question covered the synchronization of multimedia across multiple devices. The trial between Apple and Samsung is expected to take place on the 31st of March, although prior to that both Apple and Samsung are expected to meet up and conduct settlement talks in which if successful, a trial could be avoided completely. However as previously reported, Apple’s insistence on an anti-cloning provision in the settlement talks would most likely be a deal-breaker for Samsung who might basically see it as an admission of guilt, but who knows, perhaps both companies can come to some of agreement, but check back with us at a later date to see how the talks work themselves out.
