iPad Air Found As More Popular With U.S. Customers In December

ipad-air-keynote-2013After both new iPads were unveiled late last year, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the company was on track for “an iPad Christmas.” Apple’s new tablets were expected to perform very well, and it appears that they just might have done so. Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, a market research firm, has conducted a new survey and found that the iPad Air was most popular among U.S. customers last month, beating out the iPad mini with Retina display by quite a margin.CIRP surveyed 500 U.S. Apple customers, though it did not mention the unit sales in the survey. According to the data obtained from these customers, the iPad Air was found to have generated 41 percent of all Apple tablet sales in the U.S. in the quarter than ended in December 2013, nominally down from 43 percent that the iPad with Retina Display was able to log back in December 2012. The original iPad mini came in second place with 25 percent of all sales, iPad mini with Retina display, which was unveiled with the iPad Air, only accounted for 16 percent of the company’s tablet sales. Though combined, the iPad mini lineup generated more sales as compared to the full-fledged iPad Air. The iPad 2, which originally came out in 2011, seems to have generated quite a few sales on its own, despite the fact that it has been succeeded by multiple models. The tablet accounted for 5 percent of all sales in the previous quarter.
