Huawei Ascend P6 S Launched Without Fanfare
Huawei is expected to launch a bunch of new smartphones, such as the Ascend Mate 2 and the Ascend P6 S. Well the good news for fans is that Huawei has quietly launched the Ascend P6 S without much fanfare, which we have to admit is a little odd. In any case the Ascend P6 S is essentially an upgraded and more powerful version of the Ascend P6, but for whatever reason Huawei did not showcase the handset at CES 2014 earlier this month. Apart from some hardware changes under the hood, the handset will retain the same design as its predecessor and with the “S” moniker, we can’t help but be reminded of Apple’s own series of “S” devices which retain the design but feature upgraded specs over its predecessor.
Either way for those wondering what sort of specs the Ascend P6 S will come with, the handset will sport the same 4.7” 720p HD display as the Ascend P6, and will also work with gloves, meaning that during the winter season, you will still be able to operate and interact with the screen even if you have gloves on. However Huawei has decided to give the processor a speed bump and will now be clocked at 1.6GHz versus 1.5GHz from before. The handset will also come with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, an 8MP rear-facing camera, and a 5MP front-facing camera and will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Huawei’s own UI on top. Priced at $446 it appears that the handset will only be available in China at the moment. No word on a US release at the moment.
